Cosmetic Fillers and Injectibles

BOTOX® & DYSPORT

What is a Botox procedure?

Botox and Dysport are chemical neuroparalytic agents that temporarily paralyze selected facial muscles. Tiny injections into facial muscles eliminate facial muscle contractions and reduce the facial lines that result from prolonged facial animation. Forehead creases, "frown lines," and "crow's feet" are the areas most commonly treated.

Where is procedure performed?

The injections are done in Dr. Glafkides' office with a simple, no-fuss procedure. Topical anesthesia can be applied to the skin prior to injection, if necessary.

What to expect

Botox injections may take a couple days to show effect, and results usually last 3-4 months. Repeat injections are available. There is no recovery period. Most patients return to the work and activities the day of the procedure. Minimal bruising can sometimes occur after injection, but this usually resolves within 24-48 hours.

JUVÉDERM®, RESTYLANE®, RADIESSE

What are soft tissue/wrinkle injections?

Juvederm™, Restylane and Radiesse® are injectable fillers. These collagen-like products are available for facial injection. They fill-in or plump-up areas of wrinkling or depression, thereby smoothing out facial skin.

Where is the procedure performed?

The fillers are injected in Dr. Glafkides' medical suites with a simple, no-fuss procedure. Topical and local anesthesia can be applied to the skin prior to injection, if necessary.

What to expect

The effects of most injectables last between 6 and 12 months. There is no recovery period and most patients return to work and activities the day of the procedure. Swelling and minimal bruising may occur in some patients after injection, but these typically resolve within 72 hours.

Lip Augmentation

What is Lip enhancement?

As you age, your lips can become deflated and narrow, resulting in an artificial angry or aged appearance. Fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, or other facial fillers can be injected into the lips every 6 to 12 months to increase their size and eliminate fine lines. A more permanent solution, but with a longer recovery time, is a dermal graft, a procedure where a small amount of your own skin tissue is placed beneath the lip's covering to fill them out.

Where is it performed?

The fillers are injected in Dr. Glafkides' medical suites with a simple, no-fuss procedure. Topical and local anesthesia can be applied to the skin prior to injection, if necessary.

Anesthesia and Medication

This procedure is frequently performed using a topical anesthetic cream.

Recovery

There is no recovery period and most patients return to work and activities the day of the procedure. Swelling and minimal bruising may occur in some patients after injection, but these typically resolve within 72 hours.
